The year is 1993, and investigator Tomáš Kozák (Kryštof Bartoš) joins the Prague murder party to help clarify post-revolutionary cases. The premiere series of the 1990s, which takes place approximately twenty years before the 1st Division Cases, will remind viewers of the realm of the time when crime jumped to unexpected heights and decide whether the police will find and hold their role. The first of a total of six episodes will be presented by ČT1 this Sunday, January 9, from 8:10 p.m.
“It was a war between police and do-it-yourselfers. These cases have been discussed many times in the press, radio and television. In addition to freedom for all, the 1990s brought a sharp increase in crime. Crime victims increased every week, mobsters began to feel like they were pulling on the longer end of the rope, and the police had no method, time or resources to deal with it. The Czech Television’s premiere series will introduce the audience to the events and people connected with these years in six episodes – whether it is the figure of businessman Ivan Jonák and his Discoland or the underworld leader František Mrázek.
“Most of what’s going on in the series are iconic cases from the 1990s that we’ve all been through and watched on a daily basis.” says to the individual cases Ondrej Sokol, appearing in the series as Lieutenant Tůma. “The onslaught of so-called freedom has dismantled even the evil in the people in massive numbers,” complements it Martin Finger, who portrayed a younger version of operative Václav Plíšek, whose audience knows from the Cases of the 1st Department performed by Bolek Polívka.
