On the eleventh day of the North A Lower League, FC Gaishorn welcomed SC Pernegg at Leopold-Sturm-Platz. Both teams showed their skills in an exciting duel that ended in a 2-2 draw. FC Gaishorn clawed their way back into the game from an early deficit, while SC Pernegg equalized with a late goal.

Guidance and response

SC Pernegg took the lead in the early stages. Manuel Messner took advantage of one of his team’s first chances in the 20th minute and gave the visitors a 0-1 lead. The guests from Gaishorn had to respond and showed fighting spirit. In the 33rd minute, Lukas Staudacher was rewarded for his efforts. After a nice ball relay, he fired the ball directly into the top corner and equalized the score to 1-1.

Just a few minutes later, FC Gaishorn went ahead. Klaus Oppliger bought the second goal for the home side after a perfectly assisted Staudacher corner. The score 2-1 reflected the efforts of the home team, who were now playing with confidence. Things remained exciting at half-time, even though no further goals were scored, and FC Gaishorn went into the break with a narrow lead.

A game of revenge and hard fighting

The start of the second half was initially without any highlights. In the 55th minute, however, Jakob Schneller got the chance for SC Pernegg. His goal to make it 2-2 put the game back on track and gave the game a new lease of life. The game was now open, with both teams fighting for the opening goal.

Despite a few chances on both sides, the game remained exciting until the end. In the final minutes, FC Gaishorn tried to find their way to the opponent’s goal again, but they could not finish successfully. After a short stoppage time of just one minute, the final whistle blew and the game ended in a fair 2-2 draw.

Voice about the game:

Mathias Kahr (Pernegg sports director): “After a home win in the last game against Stanz, they have finally played away. This was perhaps not entirely expected against the fifth place in the table, as in addition to the 5 long-term absences, we also had 3 other players unavailable. Among others, the suspended captain Maxi Lechner. However, they were hoping for a point advantage after it already appeared during the week that the team was fully committed to the new coach. Gaishorn is very low from the start, which is why we agree very difficult. However, the home defense doesn’t look particularly stable and that’s how we leave it Manuel Messner gave the lead 1-0 in the 20th minute. The home side then took control and took the lead 2-1 with a double strike within 3 minutes. More bitter for us because we almost scored at least one goal ourselves. The fans did not see anything special in the second half, but the game was hard fought until the end. In the 55th minute it was Jakob Schneller who made a chance. After that not much happens and the teams split 2-2. For Pernegg, this is an important point of confidence now that there are three finals to go. We are currently in 11th place. Next Friday you face Staininh at home (13th), then away against Liezen (10th) and last but not least the supplementary game and the derby against Breitenau (12th). So there’s a lot left for our team.”
