a thunderous trailer for the Ragnarök series

What if the god of thunder was among us? In the Danish and Norwegian series Ragnarök, this is almost the case. The first season of this fantastic new series is out on Netflix on January 31.

Between pollution and natural disasters such as Australia has recently faced, global warming appears to some as a prelude to the end of time for humanity, “the Ragnarök” in Old Norse in Scandinavian mythology. This daring parallel between the real and the mythological is the bet made by the new original series of the SVOD Netflix platform. Ragnarok follows the journey of Laurits (Jonas Strand Gravli), a teenager who settles with his brother in the fictional town of Edda in Norway. If the name of the series echoes the prophecy of the last battle between the gods, monsters, giants and men, the name of Edda refers to the name given to all Nordic and Scandinavian tales and legends . In this mountainous city hit by melting glaciers, Laurits will discover that he has superpowers very close to the ancient god of thunder, Thor. This peculiarity will therefore lead him to fight the forces of evil, hidden in the shadows, in order to avoid a new end of the world.

Indeed, in this series, the Ragnarök would have already occurred – as underlined a scene from the trailer below. Laurits would therefore not be Thor but his descendant and his enemies, the descendants of the mythological giants. This Danish and Norwegian production (language spoken by the actors in the series) will begin on January 31 on Netflix. It is scheduled in six episodes. Ragnarök is written by Dane Adam Price, “ showrunner ” series Borgen and In the name of the Father (on Arte).
