“During the unloaded training flight, due to an established engine malfunction, the crew decided to land on the ground. The plane was partially destroyed in contact with the ground,” the military said.
From the videos on Twitter it is clear that in practice the plane was completely destroyed by the impact and fire. There were reportedly 9 people on board, four of whom died and five were injured.
“The plane crashed due to a sudden start of the engine. According to preliminary data, four people died and five were hospitalized,” experts said. According to them, the plane was flying on the Belgorod-Orenburg route and stopped to refuel in Diaghilev.

The Su-25 is an armored Soviet-made attack aircraft. On June 17, another such plane crashed during a training flight in the Belgorod region, which also borders Ukraine. The military even then said that the reason could be a technical problem. In recent months, Russia has repeatedly accused Ukraine of striking Russian territory in border areas. Incidents with crashed Russian planes are common. Russia’s military equipment is unreliable, outdated, and far from “analog-free,” as Putin claims, the agencies added.
