The first owner to buy an electric car to work as a taxi travels an average of 113,000 kilometers a year. The new owner buys the car with the clear knowledge that he will need a solid investment. He buys a car with a mileage of 402 thousand kilometers and of course the battery needs to be replaced. But this is done for free, because the car is under warranty (Tesla gives a warranty for the factory battery without mileage restrictions).
It is also necessary to replace the front electric motor, as happens when the car is 612,000 kilometers – while the rear electric motor is still the factory. At the mark of 539 thousand kilometers, the new owner repairs the control unit of the multimedia system, and when he travels 603,500 kilometers, he repairs the rear suspension.
Despite this feat, at the end of November Tesla again took the penultimate place in the US car reliability rating. The experts pointed out as the main problems of California electric cars the poor quality of workmanship, defects in the operation of electronics and multimedia systems and a bunch of other minor malfunctions.
