a territory committed to the fight against cancer

The Argentonian association Les Rubans arc-en-ciel, created in 2023 with the aim of raising funds to support medical research, relayed the Pink October operation for the second time. Through a series of actions planned in the community of communes of the Creuse Valley, the objective was to do as well as last year, since €12,725 had been entirely donated to the League Against Cancer.

Establish a real “life path”

In addition to the installation of pink umbrellas in Argenton-sur-Creuse, Le Pêchereau, Saint-Gaultier, Éguzon, and Cuzion, the association organized a sale of t-shirts in four stores, a lottery, two health prevention villages with entertainment, a “Beauty” conference reserved for residents of the community of municipalities suffering from cancer, and a sauerkraut meal. These initiatives resulted in an outpouring of generosity, and Thursday evening, November 7, at the Argenton-sur-Creuse medical center, Virginie Madec, president of the association, presented a check for €16,000 to Doctor François Christiann, departmental president of the League against Cancer.

Two spaces intended for supportive care

On this occasion, she highlighted the valuable assistance of volunteers and numerous partners, including the Territorial Professional Health Community and around a hundred businesses. This also made it possible to publish a booklet, with the help of the CPAM, and the recent opening by the League of two spaces intended for supportive care (socioesthetics, adapted sport, kinesiology, dietetics) in the medical centers of Argenton and Eguzon.

Doctor Christiann affirmed his desire to perpetuate and develop these activities by specifying: “It would no longer be a care journey, but a life journey. We are part of an experimental approach with the support of the federation, through dedicated spaces, labeled by the League, which will fit into the local landscape, with the possibility of creating itinerant spaces using vans fitted out for provide care. »

These projects are all the more motivating for Virginie Madec and her team, already on track for 2025.
