A ten-year-old boy from the American state of South Dakota rescued his sister who drowned in a river but died himself. This is reported by The Independent.
Ricky Lee Sniv and his family are on the river: father, younger sister and two younger brothers. Suddenly the youngest children fell into the water and began to drown.
His father jumped into the water to save his younger sons, but Rickey rushed to save his sister.
The boy helped his sister get ashore and disappeared underwater. His father and brothers could not find him on their own.
A large-scale operation involving police and rescuers was deployed to find the boy. At night, divers found the child’s body.
“He saved his sister and paid with his life,” stressed the boy’s mother, Nicholas. She added that the boy always cared for others and was her best friend and support. The deceased boy’s uncle set up a fundraising campaign to help the family.
