Bear Grylls is a familiar name to many. For a number of years, the man has led several TV programs which mainly deal with how to survive in some of the world’s most desolate and inhospitable areas.
The Briton is currently in the news with a longer interview with Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyi. The two talked a lot about the family life of the president. His daughters and wife do not live with Zelenskyj while the war is in full swing in Ukraine.
Grylls has previously taken celebrities and world leaders out into nature, but the conversations flow freely. Among other things, he has interviewed Barack Obama and tennis star Roger Federer.
– In the past, when I have done this with world leaders, nature has done half the work for me. It’s a good way to get to know each other, a great conversation starter, you’re often in the mountains.

Stopped by the bodyguards
In an interview with British TV, the TV star tells of a more unfortunate situation that arose during a meeting with Zelenskyj in the streets of Kyiv. The former soldier offered the president a piece of chocolate, but the bodyguards are said to have rushed to stop him.
“Did they think you, Bear Grylls, were a Russian spy who was going to poison President Volodymyr Zelenskyj?” asked Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid.
– A bodyguard said he shouldn’t eat it. Then I said “ok, I’ll eat first so you can see I’m not trying to poison him”. Then we all laughed eventually. Even his security team got some, says Grylls.
TV star
Grylls has filmed in Norway on several occasions, often with the impression that the situation he finds himself in is very serious. The 48-year-old served as a soldier in the British Army from 1994 to 1997.
He climbed Mount Everest at the age of 23, something very few have done at such a young age.
