The match of the main stage of the UEFA Champions League between the Austrian Sturm and Lisbon Sporting will be conducted by a team of Georgian referees for the first time in history. The meeting between Sturm and Sporting will take place on October 22. The match will start at 23:00 Tbilisi time. The main referee of the match will be Georgy Kruashvili, he will be assisted by Levan Varamishvili and Zaza Pipia, the fourth referee will be Georgy Avazashvili. Alessandro Di Paolo and Luca Pareto from Italy will work in the VAR room. Until now, Georgian referees have worked only at the qualifying stage of the Champions League, and at the group stage Georgians will referee for the first time.
