A team of border guards and police officers is being set up to go to Poland to exchange experiences

Latvia is currently assembling a group of border guards and police officers to take part in an operation in Poland against the illegal immigration crisis caused by Belarus.

Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš (JV) announced last Sunday after a meeting with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Moravecki at a press conference in Riga that Latvia was preparing to send both border guards and trained police officers to Poland.

Kristīne Pētersone, a spokeswoman for the Latvian State Border Guard, says that a group of State Border Guard and State Police officials is currently being recruited to exchange experience and perform certain tasks in accordance with the operation.

Similarly, the officials of the relevant Polish services will go to Latvia, it is possible that the officials of the relevant services of Lithuania and Estonia will also be involved in this rotation.

Petersone did not disclose the number of Latvian law enforcement officers to be sent to Poland. Also, the tasks to be performed and the location of the Latvian representatives are not disclosed.

We have already written that in the last months of the Lukashenko regime’s extended hybrid attack, efforts have been made to send thousands of illegal immigrants from Belarus to Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, most of whom have arrived in Belarus as tourists from Iraq.

The EU has accused the Minsk regime of seeking to avenge support for the Belarusian opposition and of sanctions against Belarus in response to last year’s violent crackdown on protests.
