A transsexual was brutally attacked by a taxi driver in the center of Athens last Thursday morning 26/9. The incident became known when the Anti-Racist Violence Department of Attica Security was called to go to Evangelismos hospital, when a social worker called the Police.
As reported by the Police, the 33-year-old, originally from Brazil, along with her boyfriend, boarded a taxi from Gazi.
The 55-year-old driver, originally from Albania, during the journey and after a conversation between them, stopped the taxi, got them off and started punching both of them in the face, head and body.
The 33-year-old woman, according to MEGA, in her attempt to escape from the perpetrator, who was following her, fell into the glass entrance of an apartment building, as a result of which it broke and injured her.
The 55-year-old was arrested
A cleaning employee who saw the incident informed EKAV. The Police, through a video taken by an eyewitness, managed to locate the license plates of the taxi and finally arrested the 55-year-old. A case file was filed against him while the autoforos procedure was followed.
It is being investigated whether the attack was motivated by racism or whether the information that the passengers refused to pay is true.
