A taxi driver attacked in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on Saturday night
“Are they going to wait for a taxi driver to be killed?” These are the words, which sound like regret, by Miguel Ojeda, the association with the largest representation in Santa Cruz of the taxi sector, who denounces the aggression suffered by a colleague from Saturday to Sunday morning.
Ojeda recalls that, in the last meeting held with the councilor for Public Services of the town hall, the popular Guillermo Díaz Guerra, they raised the need to install video surveillance cameras.
“We are the only public service in the capital that does not have this security system, and even the PP bet in the last electoral campaign to incorporate them into taxis in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.”
«The thefts and roadblocks suffered by professionals in the taxi sector are daily; the last one happened to a colleague over the weekend and months ago to another who was attacked in the garage of her house, in El Sobradillo, “he explains.
“We need security,” says the spokesperson for Elite Taxi Tenerife, Miguel Ojeda, who warns that the incidence of the pandemic has resulted in a greater economic crisis, “and taxi drivers are one of the most affected by this situation of insecurity ».
Fortunately, “the individual of the events of the weekend has already been identified, but what cannot happen is that every time we go out into the street we are playing the guy”, adds Miguel Ojeda.
