A young man running in a Baník Stříbro section jersey grows into a golden boy. Astonishing practically from his running beginnings, he broke the national records on both tracks as a student, teenager and now also as a junior. After Ostrava’s Golden Stirrup, he can add a personal record of 1: 46.67 to his name, after the Kladno meeting he throws a time of 3: 40.73 on the 15th.
“I probably appreciate the eight a little more,” he admitted. However, his record-breaking predecessor Hujer immediately called 18-year-old Davidík after the Golden Stirrup, where he also fought, for example, the acting world vice-champion Amel Tuka from Bosnia and Herzegovina. “He wrote me a very nice e-mail the next day, it hasn’t happened to me yet, I was very pleased,” he humbly admits.
He sees the eight in the future as his main track, on which he would like to break through even among adults. And get closer to their role models, such as Jakub Holuša, Marcin Lewandowski or the fraternal trio of Ingebrigtsen.
Alexander Matulka’s charge is not in a hurry from the modest section in Stříbro. “Maybe more regeneration would come in handy, but we are going to the stadium in Pilsen, where it is of good quality. I have no reason to leave Stříbro when my coach and I are doing so well, in addition, I am waiting for my high school graduation, ”he calculates.
When Davidík wants to get rid of his sports and study life, he goes fishing. “Sometimes it’s a problem to find time. So far, I had the biggest catch of about a meter of pike, but I would sometimes like to go for bigger fish and maybe a boat abroad, “he wishes.
But now he intends to continue to clear mainly running water. “I want to keep athletics to the maximum. I believe that if I complete more races among quality adults, the times will be even better, “he looks forward to next season with optimism.
