The Kharga Media Center in the New Valley Governorate, affiliated to the State Information Service, organized a symposium on health culture and its impact on reproductive health, within the framework of the media campaign launched by the State Information Service. To discuss the population issue under the slogan “Your happiness and health in planning your family”.

Azhar Abdulaziz, Director of the Kharga Media Center in the New Valley, said that the symposium was held in the presence of Dr. Rabab Ahmed Mohamed, Family Planning Officer at the Kharga Health Department, and Sherine Mohamed Abdel-Fattah, member of the Health Education Department of Health Affairs.

The definition of reproductive health and its different stages were dealt with, starting from childhood, and focusing on proper nutrition and avoiding ready-made meals, then the adolescence stage. And the fetus, and one of the stages of reproductive health is also the premarital stage.

The symposium dealt with the premarital medical examination initiative, as the old procedures were changed to ensure the implementation of these examinations, by specifying places in each of the governorate centers. The initiative is located in the Al-Kharga Center in the Al-Amal neighborhood clinic, where the sample is drawn and sent to the central centers in Cairo.

It also showed the importance of these analyzes for identifying communicable diseases such as pressure and diabetes, and identifying infectious diseases such as hepatitis, as well as identifying genetic diseases, the most important of which are fractal anemia, Mediterranean anemia and sickle cell anemia, as these diseases spread in border governorates, such as the New Valley and Matrouh And Sinai, in addition to identifying RH if it is negative or positive in the mother, and if it is negative and the husband is positive, an injection must be given within 72 hours of childbirth, and this injection is disbursed through insurance if the woman is employed or at the expense of the state if she is not employed.

She referred to the most important stages of reproductive health and the provision of free family planning methods through family planning clinics, and clarified the difference between temporary and permanent family planning methods, as the methods provided in these clinics ensure that women regain their fertility again, in addition to explaining the types of family planning methods, whether hormonal or not. Hormonal methods, such as pills, injections, subcutaneous capsules, and hormonal solutions, while non-hormonal methods such as the copper IUD and others, as for natural methods, are breast-feeding and isolation.
