A symbol of faith and community – 2024-08-14 05:31:21

The Cauquenes Hot Springs, known nationally and internationally since 1600, both for the healing properties of its waters and, more recently, for the hotel services it offers to tourists and visitors, will resume a tradition that has been absent for more than a decade: Sunday masses.

Nieves Abuhadba, Manager and owner of the Hotel Termas de Cauquenes, was the one who proposed “recovering the community life that had been lost in the area,” stating that “when talking to the neighbors of the towns of Coya, Machalí, Chacayes, El Alamo and others, we realized that the chapel of the Termas was always a meeting place, and that is why we wanted to recover that community life so typical of our areas.”

“This is how, starting this August 18th, and with the good will of Father Emilio, we will resume the masses twice a month, the first one being on this date at 4 pm. For this reason, we would like to invite all the neighbors and the community of the area to join us and be part of a historic event in a privileged environment,” he said.

The Cauquenes Hot Springs have a prominent place in national history, hosting great heroes of our land such as Bernardo O’Higgins, as well as Arturo Prat, who came on his honeymoon with Carmela Carvajal, as well as being a recurring place for President Balmaceda and his Ministers, as well as José Victorino Lastarria among others.

Although the temple does not have an exact date of its construction, it is estimated to be more than 200 years old, since the first residents who professed the Catholic religion in the place were the Jesuits, who after being expelled from the country by the Kingdom of Spain, left a legacy of religious buildings.

It should be noted that although this temple will be offering masses to the community two Sundays a month, Nieves Abuhadba stated that “it is also available to perform weddings or baptisms,” inviting those interested to come to the hotel facilities and request these services.

Finally, on that same day, August 18, there will be a large craft fair located in different open spaces of the Hotel to welcome visitors, and the doors of the venue will be open to the public from 11 am, in short, a must-see for this weekend.
