A woman contacted line 102 and said that a man called her and said that the life of her relative was in danger. The operation urgently needs money. She believed the swindler and gave all her savings.
The police went to the scene and launched an investigation. The police watched the video from the surveillance cameras. So they established the identity of the attacker, and later his whereabouts.
The criminal was detained in one of the capital’s hotels. The man turned out to be a native of the Luhansk region, born in 1985. He was previously convicted of similar crimes.
The man was informed of the suspicion in the commission of an offense under Part 2 of Art. 190 (fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court chose him a measure of restraint in the form of detention with the possibility of a bail of 42,500 hryvnias. The man faces up to three years in prison.
