Veliko Tarnovo is one of the most remarkable cities in Bulgaria. It has a special atmosphere, unique architecture and urban planning. An invariable stop on tourist routes in Bulgaria, both for locals and foreigners.
Everyone knows Tsarevets, Trapezitsa, the Samovodska bazaar, and the Asenevtsi monument. It is not so well known, however, that very close to the center of Tarnovo has a waterfall, even several – a whole cascade – the Kartal Waterfalls.
It is located north of the “Kartala” district of the city of Veliko Tarnovo. You can get to it relatively easily – from the town of Veliko Tarnovo, you can walk north through the Kartala district or northwest through the Varusha district. Follow the paths to the rock crown above Preobrazhensky Monastery. It takes about 40 minutes to reach the waterfall. You can also start from Preobrazhensky Monastery along the path to the town of Veliko Tarnovo. From there, the road is longer, but it is very interesting – you also pass several caves.
There are advantages the panoramic views of Tsarevets and Trapezitsa hills and the opposite plateau are some of the attractions along the trail. The rest are the fresh air, the movement and the waterfall at the end of the route.
