Experts also said that easing the lockdown rules will lead to a significant re-emergence of the virus, which means that it may become necessary to accelerate the deployment of the vaccine to suppress the disease burden, stressing that the lockdown will be able to contain the infection.
She emphasized that there is a need to close schools and universities, especially after some studies reported that the new strain made it easier for the virus to enter human cells, making children more vulnerable to infection and susceptible to infection as adults.
