Al-Marsad Newspaper: A recent medical study revealed a new benefit for eating olive oil, the most important of which is the prevention of cancer and other diseases.
According to a study conducted by researchers from the Spanish University of Seville and Costa del Sol Hospital, oleic acid, which constitutes between 70 and 80 percent of the composition of olive oil, contains properties that help prevent cancer and Alzheimer’s disease and lower cholesterol.
The study, whose results were published in the journal Nutrients, concluded that oleic is a monounsaturated fatty acid.
Among the benefits of the acid is also its cholesterol-lowering effect, or its ability to inhibit the expression of proteins associated with cholesterol transport, reduce its absorption, and ultimately prevent atherosclerosis and strengthen the immune system by regulating cells associated with inflammation.
