The promising drug is called “semaglutide,” which is an injection, which was tested in the study on nearly 2,000 people, according to the BBC.

The researchers found that an injection helped study participants lose an average of 15 kilograms of weight, after receiving it weekly for 15 months, as well as eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly.

The study researchers confirmed that the positive results achieved by the drug could represent a new era in the treatment of obesity without resorting to surgery, with the possibility that more treatments will soon emerge.

It is worth noting that semaglutide is not new, but is mainly used to treat type 2 diabetes and acts to curb appetite by simulating a hormone called “GLP1”, which the body secretes after eating, to feel full.
