New research has revealed startling data about the Island. The United Kingdom has been torn by many problems in recent years. It often seems that the young are pitted against the old; renters vs. homeowners; the dissenters against the Brexiteers; republicans vs royalists. But new research reveals that all Britons are decidedly not among the happiest.
According to non-profit organization Sapien Labs, the UK is officially the second unhappiest country in the world. The organization polls more than 500,000 people in 71 countries for its annual State of the World Mental Health Report to measure how “people’s internal state affects their ability to function in the context of their lives.”
Based on their findings, they compiled a ranking of the happiest and unhappiest countries in the world. Uzbekistan emerged as the unhappiest, with Great Britain in second place. Which means people living through war and humanitarian crises in countries like Iraq, Yemen and Ukraine are happier than them.
