Called to reveal how the director’s work was divided into two, Iveta Budreviča hurries to point out that the author of the idea for the film “The Question of Hecab” is Pēteris Krilovs; he also continues: “I was the initiator. But in general, it seemed to me very natural and necessary (I also had my own calculations, of course, but I will not go into detail about that) – to work with my former students. It is extremely pleasant, I I wish it to anyone. It can only be done at a certain age, it doesn’t happen in my youth. It seems to me that Iveta and I worked very collegially and equally. What she thinks and feels like, she says, and it’s a very good test. [samontēt] the combination of almost impossible materials that we had and which, to be honest, many did not believe that what would happen there – the film was under attack all the time. “Budreviča adds: . I could feel quite free. ”
The protagonists of the documentary are musicians Rolands Balodis-Ūdris and Ilona Balode-Ūdre, social worker Hanukkah Lorengela (the visual image of the film is complemented by her drawings and texts) and chaplain Dana Kalniņa-Zaķe. Actors Daiga Kažociņa and Kaspars Zvīgulis have also been immortalized. “The film is largely about ourselves, about the internal processes that take place in us when we want to help someone; what we can do for each other and what we have to do for ourselves,” says Budrevich.
“From the very beginning, we have had the attitude that we do not want to talk about an activity that is extremely necessary and encouraged in society – compassion, compassion – as a social phenomenon, but about what happens to people who help others: what their thinking and attitude, how it is formed, ”
Krilov adds, “So we quickly moved on to the line of actors, because an actor is a person who constantly checks himself to enter another person, it is his profession.”
The directors of “The Hecabah Question” say that the work created is universal enough to be perceived by those who have never heard of the film’s characters and their life stories. “The film can be calmly offered at festivals. It is not only for the Latvian market, because the name of the Otter [šeit] is popular, “says Budrevich.
