Two young people in their twenties have been in police custody since Thursday afternoon, in Nîmes (Gard). They were arrested after a case of alleged needlestick on the Boulevard Victor-Hugo. Wednesday evening, after the pegoulade, a student in his twenties complains of a prick in the lower back. The examination reveals a trace of puncture but impossible to know if it is about a syringe, or of another pointed object. Samples were taken to find any traces of toxic products. The two young people arrested are from the Pissevin district, they are brothers and are known to the police for minor offences. The victim recognized them.
Three to seven years in prison
The student, just after being stung, saw two people running away in the crowd, right in the middle of Victor Hugo. Impossible to catch up with them, but he seems convinced to be able to identify them. This Thursday morning, he filed a complaint. He still has the trace of the bite. It only took a few hours for the police to find the two suspects. In the afternoon, a crew from the BAC, the anti-crime brigade, arrests two men in the Pissevin district.
They are suspected of administering harmful substances. They face between three and seven years in prison if the facts are verified. If the toxicological examinations revealed no harmful substances, the two suspects could still be prosecuted for assault with a weapon. The police assure that they will be intractable on this kind of behavior throughout the feria.
