A strong wind hit the Czech Republic on Tuesday night. In some places it broke trees and caused problems in railway traffic. Firefighters also had their hands full.

Train operations on the Prague – Benešov railway line in the section between Čerčany and Benešov were stopped today by fallen trees, and traction lines were also damaged. České dráhy (ČD) introduced replacement bus services, traffic was restored before 12:30 p.m., Czech Railways (ČD) spokesman Filip Medelský told ČTK.

“The fallen trees on the track, which also damaged the traction lines, interrupted the train operation between Benešov and Čerčany. We are introducing a replacement bus service. This is also reinforced by exclusion buses from Vlašimi from the XS99 line, which is interrupted by this,” she informed on the X network also Prague integrated transport (PID).

Long-distance trains were canceled between Prague and Benešov, the carrier recommended using passenger trains to Čerčany and alternative bus services from Čerčany to Benešov.

The strong wind affected the entire Královéhradecky region. Firefighters removed trees that had fallen onto the roads, for example, in Borohrádek in the Rychnovsk region, in Jestřeb and Vysokov in the Náchod region, in Dětenice and Sekeřice in the Jičín region, and in Dvór Králové nad Labem. In Čejkovice near Jičín, firefighters were removing a hunting lodge that fell on the road.

On Tuesday, a moderate westerly wind with a speed of 15 to 25 kilometers per hour should blow in the Hradec Králové region. In impacts, it could reach speeds of up to 55 kilometers per hour. By evening, the wind should weaken, meteorologists said.
