A strong earthquake magnitude 6.7 shook the central and northern areas of Chile.
According to the National Emergency Office of the Ministry of the Interior (One my), the earthquake hit the regions of Antofagasta, Atacama, Coquimbo and Valparaíso.
“Preliminarily, no damage to people, alteration to basic services or infrastructure is reported as a result of this earthquake“, he declared.
The Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy of Chile noted that the characteristics of the event do not meet the conditions to produce a tsunami on the coasts of the South American country.
Chile is in the Pacific Ring of Fire, which is why it is considered one of the most seismic countries on the planet.
