A supervisor was beaten up by a group of young people after trying to confiscate a laptop from a student at Gisèle-Halimi college in Aubervilliers. The teachers observe a day of strike this Tuesday and ask for additional means.
The case started with a simple laptop confiscated on Thursday March 31. A supervisor tries to confiscate a laptop from a student. “She didn’t want to give him her cell phone and suddenly he pushed her and it started a fight”says a schoolboy.
The young girl then calls her big brother who comes accompanied by a small group of young people and beats up the supervisor in question in the precincts of the establishment. The latter, in his thirties, returned to work on Monday and did not wish to speak.
“It’s not the first time this has happened. At the beginning of the year there was already a problem like that”continues another student.
On the side of the teachers, the malaise is palpable. “We have a staffing rate of supervisors that is clearly insufficient. We were promised additional supervisors for this start of the school year. Our team of supervisors works in absolutely unacceptable conditions”explains Séverine Labarre, French teacher at the Gisèle Halimi college.
According to the latter, additional resources were requested when the establishment opened, which has welcomed 700 students since 2019. “We have a REP + college (priority education network). The new REP + colleges have less resources than other colleges that are not classified”says this member of SNES-FSU 93.
According to figures communicated by an internal source, the strike was strongly followed: 8 out of the 9 employees of school life and 2 teachers out of 3.
