A street in New York is named after Stan Lee

The Marvel co-creator will be remembered in a new way, as there is now a street in honor of Stan Lee in the Bronx named after him.

The “Stan Lee Way” was officially opened by Councilor Fernando Cabrera; Marvel fans can find it on University Avenue, between Brandt Place and West 176th, in the Bronx, in New York.

Stan Lee was born in Manhattan, New York, but his family moved to 1720 University Avenue in the Bronx when Lee was a teenager..

He would also attend DeWitt Clinton High School in that neighborhood, and DeWitt honored that legacy by having his fine arts students attend the opening of the Stan Lee Way.

In fact, one of Dewitt’s current students, junior Rafeal Class, spoke to the Bronx News about the influence of Stan Lee’s legacy, saying, “When you walk into Clinton, we have the portraits of him, he’s an inspiration. like you never know what might come out of the Bronx. “

The street honoring Stan Lee for its location is due to the time the creator spent at DeWitt saw him gravitate toward a passion for creative writing.

Apparently at the age of 15 he entered a high school writing contest, and that event supposedly “changed my life,” according to Lee in the book ‘The Man Behind Marvel’.

Lee alleges that he won the contest for three weeks in a row until the newspaper pressured him to let someone else win, and suggested that he pursue a professional writing career.

Stan Lee He passed away on November 12, 2018, a few weeks before his 96th birthday. He had suffered from several major health ailments that led to his death, including pneumonia.

His official cause of death was listed as cardiac arrest with respiratory failure and congestive heart failure identified as underlying causes.
