NEW JERSEY – A 12-year-old boy left a New Jersey hospital after being hospitalized after being hit by a bullet that entered his room Friday night, police confirmed the next morning.
Police say the boy was at his home around 10:00 pm, in an apartment complex on 17th Avenue in Newark, when the stray bullet entered through the window.
The boy was taken to the University Hospital and released several hours later. Police did not release the extent and manner of his injury.
“Hopefully the minor will be fine,” Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said in a statement Saturday. “He is very lucky to be alive. We already recovered the vehicle involved in the incident, it was unoccupied.”
