The Crimean Platform is a new consultative and coordination format initiated by Ukraine to improve the effectiveness of the international response to the occupation of Crimea, increase pressure on Russia, prevent human rights violations and protect victims of the occupation regime. The main goal of the platform is the de-occupation of Crimea. It is assumed that the platform will operate at several levels: heads of state and government, foreign ministers, in the dimension of inter-parliamentary cooperation, in the format of an expert network.
Officially, the activities of the Crimean Platform will begin at the inaugural summit on 23 August. It is planned adopt a document called “Crimean Charter”who will condemn Russia’s policy towards the occupied Crimea.
On August 19, Kuleba announced that participation in the summit confirmed by 44 countries and organizations… At the level of presidents and heads of government, 13 countries will be represented, and there will also be President of the European Council Charles Michel. Kuleba said that, regardless of the level of representation, the countries participating in the summit become the founders of the Crimean platform.
August 20 participation in the summit confirmed by Iceland, the number of participants increased to 45.

Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said on August 20 that due to pressure from Russia, one of the countries, which had previously confirmed participation in the summit, refused it.
At the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called “illegitimate” Ukraine’s attempts to return the Crimea occupied by Russia, in particular with the help of the Crimean Platform initiative.
