On the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, Tuesday March 8, several conferences are organized by the Métropole de Lyon. Including one this Friday “Women and health: a story of inequality”.
The conference is organized in partnership with the magazine Women here and elsewhere.
“When it comes to health, men and women are not in the same boat. And if biological differences explain part of the
inequalities that can be observed, there are many other causes. One of the main ones is the weight of social representations linked to the feminine or masculine gender, which affect the attitude of patients, the medical profession and researchers. Another important cause of these
inequalities comes from medical training, which reproduces inequalities in health“, explains the Metropolis of Lyon.
Historian Muriel Salle, lecturer and co-responsible for the equality mission at the Lyon Institute of Political Studies, will notably be present at this conference.
