A stolen Ferrari, a clumsy thief! How did Apple allow them to be found?

It’s not just backpacks (children and cats), which can be found using the Locate network. Indeed, on numerous occasions, this Apple technology has made it possible to recover numerous stolen goods.

What are the police doing?

Once upon a time, there was a billionaire whose Ferrari worth more than half a million dollars was stolen near Greenwich Village on September 16.. But fortunately for him an object of less value allowed him to recover his car. In fact, he had left his AirPods $130, inside the car, which allowed police to find her via the Find My app and track her to a gas station.

But the story doesn’t end there! Indeed, caught in the act, the thief panics and flees, leaving behind… his iPhone. We hardly believe it and yet! From there, the authorities managed to identify the 22-year-old young man, using the smartphone (we don’t know how). The latter – a multiple repeat offender despite his age – was well known to the police and was able to be arrested and then tried for numerous car thefts!

Note that the story will also work with a thermal 208, but the story will have significantly less panache…

How to find your lost AirPods using the Find My app

As a reminder, Find My network is compatible with the following Apple products : iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple Watch, Mac, AirPods, AirTag and certain accessories (like the new Apple Pencil Pro, whose last known location it detects).

The Find My app can indeed view the location of your AirPods on a map, play a sound to help you find them, and even help you pinpoint their location accurate when they are nearby. To do this, simply follow the steps below:

1. Open the Find My app (on iPhone for example)
2. Go to the Devices tab, then choose your AirPods from your list (if your AirPods are not in their case, you may need to choose the left or right earbud, or the case depending on the model)
3. Find your AirPods on the map.
has. If they’re not nearby, select Get Directions to see their location in the Maps app.
b. If they are nearby, choose Make a sound and listen
c. Depending on your AirPods and iPhone, the Find Nearby option may be available. Just select and wait for your AirPods to connect to your iPhone, then follow the instructions to find them.
