To On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day on June 14, everyone’s attention was drawn to urgent needs. Accident victims, but also patients, either directly through blood transfusion or indirectly through the use of drugs derived from blood from plasma donation. This world day was also an opportunity to salute the civic gesture of those who donate their blood, plasma or platelets.
The Barséquanais association for voluntary blood donation, for its part, has just congratulated the faithful donors of the sector. Like this Barséquanais who has already made 150 donations over the past thirty years, diplomas of different levels were awarded, during the general assembly, to those present. ” There are still nearly a hundred left to distribute. “, confides Robert Payen, the president of the association who took advantage of Thursday’s collection to hand over a few.
Where have the donors gone?
A president who regrets not having more people during these now monthly collections. For the first year of implementation of this monthly calendar, the figures were not so good in 2021. However, voluntary blood donation has been a tradition in the Barséquanais in recent years. It must be said that the health crisis has not facilitated donations. It did not facilitate either the renewal of members or friendly reunions such as meals together and outings. As a result, the finances for the year 2021 are in deficit by nearly €700.
Young people learn
During this general assembly at the town hall of Bar-sur-Seine, Michel Thiédot, president of the Departmental Union, and Céline Jules Cyrille, vice-president, presented the activities of blood donors in Aube.
The collection of this June 16 did not go up the average of the donations of this year since only 45 people presented themselves. 39 samples were taken and a new donor was registered; it is always that.
Just before it started, Robert Payen welcomed two schoolgirls, Julie and Sharon, to the 3rd preparatory trades class at the Val-Moré trades high school. Two young volunteers to be “ambassadors” and thus motivate their comrades to donate blood. Sharon and Julie have, in this regard, prepared posters and they will now spread the word, since they were able to discover the backstage of the collection on Thursday. Robert Payen explained to them the course of a donation with the very detailed questionnaire, the interview with a doctor before the collection. ” You have to hydrate a lot and after the sample you are entitled to a snack which allows you to recover “, he specified to the young girls accompanied for the occasion by a teacher and the nurse of the establishment. ” My mother has already donated and I think I will too “, specified Julie, while Sharon does not yet know what she will do when she turns 18. In any case, the two students have fully understood the importance of blood donations and will be able to explain the how and the why as well as all the security that governs the process.
