A step away from the group stage. Legia Warsaw – Brøndby IF 1:1

Legia Warsaw drew 1:1 with Brøndby IF in the return match of the third round of the UEFA Conference League qualifiers and, thanks to an away win in the first match, advanced to the play-off phase of the qualifiers. The goal for the Military was scored in injury time of the first half by Radovan Pankov.

The visitors had to make up for the loss from the first match and it was visible in the first half. Kacper Tobiasz played very well in the Military goal that day. First, he defended a long-range shot by Sebulonsen, then an attempt by Suzuki. In the 22nd minute, Claude Goncalves lost the ball in a dangerous zone, Suzuki struck, the ball bounced off Sergio Barcia’s leg and went past the post. In the 29th minute, the visitors took a free kick from the side sector of the pitch, and Tobiasz successfully punched the cross. A moment later, Kvistgaarden wanted to check the Legia goalkeeper, but his shot was off target. In the 35th minute, Sebulonsen fell in the penalty area after a clash with Paweł Wszołek. The referee used the VAR system, but he checked the situation that had taken place a moment earlier. In it, Sergio Barcia touched the ball with his hand in the Military’s “sixteen”. The referee pointed to the lime. Wass scored a goal with a shot into the middle of the goal from eleven meters. The legionaries equalized in added time. Paweł Wszołek won a free kick from the right side of the pitch. The set piece was taken by Ruben Vinagre – he crossed strongly into the opponents’ penalty area, and there Radovan Pankov added a header and put the ball into the net.

After the break, the Legia players had more of the game, and their opponents opened up more and more. In the 54th minute, Bartosz Kapustka wanted to start Marc Guala, but the ball was intercepted by an opponent. A moment later, Wass struck, but he lacked precision. In the 56th minute, VAR intervened again. This time, Claude Goncalves clashed with an opponent in Legia’s penalty area. However, the referee did not award a penalty kick. In the 64th minute, Luquinhas’s breakthrough action ended in a corner kick, as the Brazilian was blocked. A moment later, Paweł Wszołek passed to Bartek Kapustka, who passed to Guala, but the Spaniard was blocked. On the other side of the pitch, Wass made a slight mistake. In the 69th minute, Luquinhas fell in the Danes’ penalty area, but the referee did not see a foul. In the end, the visitors pressed, but Kacper Tobiasz did a great job. The Legia goalkeeper defended shots by Nartey and Budgaard. In added time, the Legia players launched a counterattack, which Ryoya Morishita, who had been introduced a moment earlier, wanted to finish. The Japanese player lost the ball at the last moment, although before he decided to shoot, he could have passed it to Migouel Alfarela, who was running from the left. Three minutes later, Alfarela noticed the Japanese player and passed the ball to him, but he overshot. In the last minutes, Rafał Augustyniak and Claude Goncalves intervened in the Legia penalty area.
