A. Spruds will take part in the meeting of defense ministers of the EU Foreign Affairs Council

On Friday 30 August, Minister of Defense Andris Spruds will participate in the meeting of Ministers of Defense of the Council of Foreign Affairs of the European Union in Brussels, Belgium.

At the meeting, European Union defense ministers will discuss current security and defense issues, focusing on the situation in Ukraine and the European Union’s military assistance initiatives, including the European Union’s military training missions in Ukraine (European Union Assistance Mission in Ukraine – EUMAM) for the results achieved. Officials will also discuss emergency income (extraordinary income) construction of non-transferable funds of the Central Bank of Russia for the military needs of Ukraine, other initiatives of member states and cooperation of the European Union in the context of the Washington NATO Summit.

Also, the agenda of the officers will include the issues of the day about the European Union’s general security and defense policy. During the meeting, the ministers will discuss the missions and activities of the European Union, with a focus on the Red Sea region and the Middle East and North Africa region, as well as the strengthening of European defense preparations and the industrial base and the necessary funding. .

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, José Borel Fonteljes, will chair the meeting of defense ministers of the Council of Foreign Affairs of the European Union.Josep Borrell Fontelles).
