A special music video has been made for the new domestic film "Bedre"

The author of the music is the leader of the domestic classical music hooligans – the group “Dagamba” – Valters Pūce, for whom this is his debut feature film. Internationally acclaimed Sinfonietta Rīga musicians with conductor Normunds Šnē and Riga Dome Boys’ Choir conducted by Mārtiņš Klišāns have taken part in the music recording. The creative team has united professionals in the field: the composer of the film “Bedre” is Valters Pūce, the role of music producer is Normunds Šnē, and the sound director is Varis Kurmiņš.

The artists admit that making music for this film has been very exciting. Music and soundtrack are an extremely important part of every film, so it was a responsible job, says Valters Pūce. “It’s my debut in making film music. Composing this music was like discovering a new world where musical choices are determined by story and image. My task was to brighten and color what was going on so that the music would complement the film and serve its overall feeling. I am very pleased that Normunds Šnē and Mārtiņš Klišāns participated in the music recording with their groups, making the overall sound of the music especially rich, ”says the composer.

“The film reveals the cross-section of our society, touching on several current topics – children growing up without parents and facing emotional abuse, mutual tolerance, openness to others – and proving the calming power of art. Therefore, it seems that academic music in a modern sound is very suitable for the film. Music is very important to me. Music is an emotion. But at the same time, I am aware that I should not exploit and use it for my own purposes. It is taste and balance. I am very pleased and also pleasantly surprised by Walter’s work, especially knowing in what circumstances and in how short time he coped with it. I already told him – you don’t try not to say in the end that music is better than a movie! I hope that the audience will enjoy the music as much as I do, ”director Dace Pūce emphasizes the successful interaction of image and sound.

An exciting story with great actors, heartbreaking, but not for a moment sweet, with unforgettable, poetic shots – this is how the film won the main prize at the German and Russian film festivals last autumn by the jury of the Lübeck Film Festival. The roles are played by outstanding actors: Dace Evers, Indra Burkovska, Inese Kučinska, Aigars Vilims and Egons Dombrovskis, one of the roles is entrusted to the award-winning Polish actress Agata Buzeka. The young actor Damir Onackis will take on the role of ten-year-old Markus. The film’s creative team also includes cameraman Gatis Grīnbergs, artist Laura Dišlere, costume designer Liene Bite, make-up artist Anete Šidlovska, light master Toms Ločmelis, screenwriters Monta Gāgane and Pēteris Rozītis, director’s first assistant Katrīna editing director Jussi Rautaniemi.
