From June 13 to 18, the EFS celebrates World Blood Donor Day through 8 large-scale collections: entertainment, conviviality and surprises will be in place to thank those who bring the great chain of blood donation solidarity to life throughout the year. ‘year. Donors, volunteer associations, collaborators, promotional partners, all have a key role in making blood collection possible. Thanks to their actions, they help treat more than 26,000 patients in the region.
Stocks are low as summer approaches
World Blood Donor Day is even more important this year to meet the needs of patients throughout the summer. The low attendance at collections for several weeks has not made it possible to compensate for public holidays and spring break, which have impacted already fragile stocks. The mobilization for blood donation is often impacted by events on the French calendar which divert citizens from donation every year. This is particularly the case for long weekends in May, election periods and school holidays, in particular the end-of-year celebrations and the summer period! A few days before the first departures on vacation, the collections organized for World Blood Donor Day have the crucial objective of collecting as many donations as possible, thus guaranteeing a sufficient level of blood products before the summer.
