- Women soccer players and former soccer players participated to talk about the development of women’s soccer in South America and share ideas and reflections.
- This activity was carried out in parallel with the CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina 2024 and the Football Seminar with F for Women.
CONMEBOL, through its Development Directorate and the CONMEBOL Evolución program, held a discussion with leading women in South American women’s soccer, with the participation of soccer players and former soccer players who made history in women’s sports.
Alejandro Domínguez, President of CONMEBOL, gave important words about the work that the institution has carried out in recent years in favor of the development of women’s football.
“We have to work together, because we need to listen to each other, see each other and learn. That is the good thing about sharing these moments, that is the good thing about having them here and that we have the time to see them, tell them, but most importantly, listen to them,” said President Domínguez.
In addition, he emphasized that his goal as president of CONMEBOL is to make a South American team champion in the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The event was held at the headquarters of the South American Football Confederation, in Luque – Paraguay, and was organized as part of the parallel activities to the CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina 2024 and the Football with F Seminar for Women, with the aim of strengthening the leadership of leading women, reflecting on the impact and importance of inspiring new generations and creating networks among players.
The participants had the opportunity to talk about their experiences, exchange ideas and reflections on the development of women’s football in South America and its evolution in recent years.
During the meeting, crucial topics were addressed such as the challenges faced by women in sports and the progress achieved thanks to struggle and effort. The players also shared inspiring stories about their careers and how they have managed to open paths for new generations, emphasizing the importance of having role models who can guide and motivate young athletes.
After this event and following the parallel activities to the CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina, players, referees, journalists and women leaders will meet on October 18 for the Women with Stories conversation, with the aim of empowering and inspiring each other through their stories of life and experiences in football.
Later, on the same day, the Mini CONMEBOL Libertadores Femenina 2024 will be held, with the participation of more than 250 girl players and references in women’s soccer, who will enjoy the game at its best, playing matches and connecting through soccer.
On Saturday, October 19, the activities will close with the Women’s F Soccer Seminar, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Paraguay time) in Asunción – Paraguay, which will be open to the public in person and virtually, and all Interested people may be part through the live broadcast on the CONMEBOL YouTube channelthey only have to register your participation.
