“Y’S MEN” club “Cēsis” and saxophonist Vilnis Auziņš entertained the people of the Cēsis nursing home with a musical treat during the Second Advent.
The representative of the women’s club, Ineta Ozoliņa, says that the idea of creating their own vocal ensemble arose not long ago, because many members of the club are good singers. The ensemble could give holiday performances in social care institutions. “Thought – done! Before the holiday, we met in several rehearsals, we included Christmas songs in our repertoire, such as “Ussnigas präžiņš white”, “Zvani und sveces”, “Zvaniņš skan” and others, to create a festive mood. We also invited saxophonist Vilni Auziņa to join us. But between songs, women’s club member and Cēsis Theater actress Inese Majore speaks wonderful poetry.”
Several years ago, members of the women’s club helped the nursing home with furniture and aids they received from supporters in Denmark, but they gave a concert here for the first time. Ineta Ozoliņa says that the event was very cordial, filled with positive emotions: “Seniors clapped, some also sang along. We are also very happy for the success. Ineta Krūmiņa, president of the Ciemakukulim association, had already baked pies in the morning, and we also provided tangerines.”
The concert was so nice that the nursing home invited the society to perform love songs on Valentine’s Day as well. I. Ozoliņa says: “That’s the way it is, if you start, you’ll end up messing it up. We also immediately had thoughts about the repertoire. After the holidays, we’ll see if we can do it.”
Today, Tuesday, the association’s ensemble will take part in the Christmas carol concert of the members of the “Pērle” support center, singing together with everyone and decorating the Christmas tree. On the other hand, at the end of December, traditionally, the ladies of the women’s club will delight the participants of the “Pērle” day care center for adults with games and gifts.
Also, the ladies plan to please the other members of their society with a concert program, as well as to perform at the event of the cultural society “Harmonija”. I. Ozoliņa says that he would like to make even more people happy, but Christmas time is also busy for the association, so it is not possible to realize all the plans.
