It is a joint project of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UN Women, whose The objective is to set up a platform to support and support actions around girls’ education and health in our country. But also to ensure the empowerment of adolescent girls and young women through education.
The opening ceremony was chaired by the representative of the Minister of National Education, Ms Sylla Fatoumata Cissé, in the presence of a representative of Unesco, Amadou Guittèye.
He explained that there are several associations that intervene in the education of girls. According to him: “we must bring together all the associations so that each can contribute its idea on how to proceed with the education of girls. This project began in 2016 and continues to implement activities related to education, the schooling of young girls in several localities of the country. It is therefore essential to set up this platform which will continue even after the project ”.
It must be recognized that our country has made great efforts in favor of girls’ education. To maintain this momentum, parents must give their daughters the opportunity not only to go to school but also to pursue higher education, he noted.
For her part, Ms. Sylla Fatoumata Cissé said that the education of girls contributes to the development of the country. Because, this can prevent, among other things, early marriages as well as violence against women. For her: “the non-education of girls is a handicap for the country, the young girl must go to school to be independent.
I ask teachers to mobilize parents so that they send their daughters to school ”. And to add that this platform is also an aid to girls who have not been able to attend school or who have not been able to complete their studies.
