A small plane with two occupants crashes

A small plane with two occupants on board crashed Thursday near Westchester County, New York, due to a mechanical problem, reported the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA, in English).

New York, January 19, 2023.- The plane, a single-engine Beechcraft A36, took off from JFK airport in New York bound for Idaho at 5 p.m. local time, and at half an hour the pilot contacted the runway at White Plains Airport in upstate to advise that he was having engine trouble.

Immediately after, its trace was lost, and it is estimated that it crashed around 6:15 a.m. when it was already closed at night, according to FAA sources quoted by several local media.

The plane has six seats, but only the pilot and one other passenger were flying, who are currently untraceable, although an intense search operation is being deployed, according to the New York Post.
