a six-year-old boy loses his life after a fire in a building in the Bronx – Telemundo New York (47)

A 6-year-old boy was killed and another man seriously injured after a fire in a garbage dump inside a Bronx building Friday night, police said.

The incident at the Mott Haven housing complex began shortly after 5:00 pm, according to police. The boy and the 32-year-old man were found unconscious in the third-floor hallway.

The man was listed in critical condition at Harlem Hospital, while the boy was pronounced dead. There was no news of any other injuries.

Police said both are believed to have suffered smoke inhalation. Neighbors said they don’t feel safe inside the building.

“I can’t sleep at night because I don’t know what’s going to happen in the building. Every time you turn around, there is a fire… people had to lose their lives, people lost their animals tonight because of the fire. My heart goes out to that child’s family, “said resident Nakia Williams.

The cause of the fire had not yet been determined. An investigation is ongoing.
