A single mistake cost more than 4 crores, the work given to Bangalore by the auctioneer is like this; Kohli did what he wanted because of .. – Southlive

The 2014 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction for Yuvraj Singh between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had its element of controversy. The bidding war for the Indian cricket legend ended at Rs 14 crore.

Having played for six different teams including Punjab Kings (PBKS), Pune Warriors India (PWI), RCB, Delhi Capitals (DC), Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians, Yuvraj has a wealth of experience in auctions during his IPL career.

In the 2014 IPL mega auction, KKR made a huge effort to get Yuvraj. But the auction had its elements of controversy. 10 crores, the first RCB star was brought along. However, the auctioneer made a mistake. He said Kolkata bid before RCB confirmed the bid and he did not see it.

Finally, after a brief negotiation, bidding resumed for Yuvraj, which led to him being picked up in the team for Rs 14 crore. 4 crore loss to Bangalore anyway/

“We have lodged a formal complaint and sent a letter to the IPL Governing Council. Our captain Virat Kohli really wanted him. 4 crore extra was unfortunate but the auctioneer has the final say,” said team owner Mallya.

Yuvraj’s spell with RCB lasted just one season, scoring 376 runs and five wickets in 14 matches. He was released by RCB ahead of the 2015 auction, where Delhi Daredevils (DC) picked him up for Rs 14 crore.
