At the start of the week, the cellphone of the new mayor of Bouzonville, who was elected last March, is only ringing: Armel Chabane receives many calls from principals, administrators, and elected officials from neighboring municipalities, who report a disturbing rumor to him : his village would be the scene of a multiplication of cases of Covid-19.
On June 27, however, during the distribution of more than 9,000 masks, organized by the local municipality, none of the inhabitants of Bouzonville had alerted him.
But during the weekend, publications posted on social networks, indicate that the Moselle commune has become a real epidemic center. The rumor spreads and so does the concern.
Armel Chabane is forced to react. After contacting theRegional Health Agency, and local health actors, he decided to publish a communicated on the facebook page of the municipality, to try to calm local anxieties.
In fact, according to the ARS, in Bouzonville, there is no cluster, but a simple grouped case which affects a family in the commune. The regional health agency specifies that ” the situation is under control “. She adds that she is in contact with the town hall, to take, if necessary, specific measures.
For his part, the mayor of Bouzonville calls on his constituents not to panic and to continue to respect barrier gestures.
