Seven paramedics face charges of intentional homicide. If proven guilty, they face up to 25 years in prison. The case is further resolved by the medical board. The San Isidro Public Prosecutor’s Office in Buenos Aires, which is investigating the case, has suggested to the court that the accused should not be allowed to leave Argentina.
Among the accused are Maradon’s personal physician, neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, who underwent brain surgery two weeks before his death, psychiatrist Agustina Cosach, two nurses, a nurse coordinator, another doctor and one of the psychologists.
The medical council had previously revealed that the medical team that had treated Maradona before her death acted “in an inappropriate, inadequate, and ruthless manner and left him to his fate.” If he received appropriate care, he said he would have a better chance of survival.
