According to preliminary data, all the vehicles that were on the ship were destroyed or significantly damaged by fire. The cargo ship Ah Shin also carried electric vehicles, which made it difficult to extinguish the fire – in this case it was dangerous to use ordinary water to fight the fire.
After the fire was discovered, the Ah Shin team used all the carbon dioxide on board – about 50 tons. However, this did not help, and the fire continued to grow. Then the captain requested permission to send the ship to the port city of Vung Tau to replenish supplies.
It is reported that after more than a day, the fire on the ship is mostly localized. Ah Shin listed five degrees to starboard. All crew members remain on board, no one was hurt. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
