On Wednesday a ship carrying about 160 passengers on board the Niger River, Nigeria, it sank. According to local authorities, the ship was headed for the Nigerian state of Kebbi, in the north-west, when it broke down probably due to overcrowding: it had a capacity of around 80 passengers. According to local sources heard by the BBC searches are still ongoing: 40 surviving passengers were recovered, while 5 were found dead.
