Two people died in a severe accident on Easter near Plovdiv. Two BMW cars collided head-on on the Ring Road, near the fork for the whole of Markovo. Two more people were injured, BNT reported.
The incident happened around 10 pm. Many police, ambulances and a fire brigade arrived on the scene.
The Ministry of Interior did not provide information on the case until late last night, the entire section from Plovdiv Customs to the Ring Road was closed for traffic.
The RIA announced a temporary restriction of traffic in both directions at km 9 on road II-86 – a ring road to Plovdiv at the junction for c. Markovo at km 9.
Police checks on roads across the country have revealed many violations during the holidays. In Plovdiv and the region alone, more than 1,100 violators have been caught in the last two days.
17 drivers were caught behind the wheel after using alcohol and drugs. In five – the druggist reported 1.2 per mille, and three refused to be tested.
During the inspections, police cameras filmed 527 cases of speeding.
Two offenders, in an attempt to avoid punishment, offered bribes to the uniformed officers on duty.
Cameras, patrols and traffic police will monitor all roads in the country until the end of the holidays, police warn.
