It turns out that in the very beginnings, musician and later also producer Guntar Račs coming to the stage as a drummer was connected with a whole series of coincidences. As guitarist Andris Alviķis, a colleague of his first musical association, recalls in the program “Say it out loud”, in the distant 1980s, while studying at the 1st secondary school in Liepāja, he and his fellow guitarist, another guitarist, had founded a music group. There were big plans, so we are also looking for a drummer. Since this position requires a lot of physical strength, the choice fell on Guntars Rača, who was a year older, who was training in boxing at the time.
“Security was a very important thing even then. And so I managed to talk to the sporty guy. I think there are two options – either I will get a proposal or – he will agree. Fortunately, the second option happened” – Alviķis remembers the first meeting between the two.
“But how could I not agree, when the mother of the inviter was a teacher of Latvian language and literature. And I have to say – later I passed the exam in this subject very well” – Guntars jokes, agreeing to his considerations.
