A Senate panel will invite Teves to a hearing into Degamo’s homicide, as he is named as a mastermind.

The Senate committee on justice and human rights will be inviting former Negros Oriental governor Emilio Macias II and businessman Allan Diones Teves to its hearing on the killing of former Negros Oriental Representative Herminio Teves and his bodyguard in November last year. The invitation was made after Senate committee chair Ronald dela Rosa disclosed on Thursday that a witness has tagged the governor’s involvement in the planning of the crime.

Also, an alleged mastermind named Rafael Teves is apparently adding complexity to the case, according to initial reports from the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Negros Oriental. Rafael Teves is a nephew of the slain Herminio Teves and a cousin of incumbent Second District Negros Oriental Representative Manuel Teves who is in good terms with Gov. Macias.

Meanwhile, ex-Cavite governor and Congressman Jonvic Remulla is also pointing fingers at Allan Diones Teves as a possible main mastermind of the crime. In a statement, Remulla said that investigators should focus on the businessman’s involvement in the case and look into his possible connections to local politicians in Negros Oriental.

On the other hand, Rep. Manuel Teves has asserted that the killing is a closed case, citing the PNP’s earlier statement that they already identified and filed charges against the suspects, and that motive for the crime is simply political.

The first hearing on the case conducted last December revealed that the killing of the father and son duo of the Teveses was allegedly carried out by a group of hitmen who received an initial payment of P100,000. After they allegedly killed Herminio and his bodyguard, the suspects then went to the man’s house and searched for documents and cash.

The Senate committee on justice and human rights will reconvene on April 17 to investigate further into the case, and hopefully, identify the true perpetrators of the crime.

In conclusion, several alleged masterminds, including Gov. Emilio Macias II and businessman Allan Diones Teves, are being invited to the Senate hearing on the killing of former Negros Oriental Representative Herminio Teves and his bodyguard, while an alleged mastermind named Rafael Teves is adding complexities to the case. Despite Congressman Manuel Teves’ claim that the case is already closed, the Senate committee on justice and human rights will continue its investigation, aiming to identify the true perpetrators of the crime.
