a security perimeter set up around the building

On Friday 25 December, the services of the City of Grenoble set up, in the Paul-Mistral park, a safety perimeter with a radius of 50 meters around the Perret tower. “As part of the restoration of the Perret tower, sensors were installed in 2020 to monitor its possible movements. Studies carried out in 2019 revealed a vertical deviation of 25 cm at 60 meters in height. No movement was detected during the recent work carried out as part of the test site. However, since December 23, the data recorded by the sensor located 72 meters high have exceeded the alert threshold on several occasions, ”explains the City of Grenoble in a press release published on Saturday morning.

“Alerted by the company in charge of monitoring 24 hours a day, and after consulting the architect in charge of restoring the monument, the City decided to set up a security perimeter for the public while waiting for an interpretation of the measures by an approved control office and decide on the measures to be taken ”, details the press release which does not specify the measures recorded or the recurrence of their exceeding in recent days.
